Step 1: Download and Create Your Account

FirstMove is free and available on iOS and Android. Creating an account requires minimal information — no exhaustive profile-building before you can use the app. Your main profile is intentionally sparse because most of your identity within FirstMove is event-specific.

Step 2: Arriving at an Event — Entering a VibeZone

When you arrive at an event where FirstMove is active, you enter a VibeZone — a geo-presence zone tied to that specific venue or gathering. The app detects your presence at the event (not your precise location within it) and activates your event-specific Ephemeral Profile.

Inside the VibeZone, you can see other FirstMove users who are also present and have opted in to being discoverable. This gives you a real-time sense of who else is at the event.

Step 3: Your Ephemeral Profile

For each event, you create a lightweight Ephemeral Profile. This is distinct from your permanent account — it's event-specific and disappears when the event ends.

Your Ephemeral Profile contains:

• A name (which can be different from your account name)
• A brief "vibe" — a short note about who you are or what you're looking for at this event
• Any relevant shared context (what you're there for, what you'd like to talk about)

The profile is designed to be enough to spark interest without being a comprehensive public dossier.

Step 4: Discovery

Within the VibeZone, you browse other attendees. You can see who's present and get a sense of their vibe. This is the discovery layer — you're figuring out who you'd like to connect with.

Gamified ice-breaking challenges may also be available, giving you and other attendees structured ways to interact that make first contact feel less like an approach and more like participation in a shared activity.

Step 5: The Mutual Handshake

If you're interested in connecting with someone, you express that interest in the app. Importantly, the other person doesn't know you've expressed interest — not yet.

If they also express interest in you, independently, the Mutual Handshake completes. Both of you are notified: "You've matched at [event name]." This is the moment of connection — two people, both wanting to meet.

The Mutual Handshake is the consent mechanism at the heart of FirstMove. No one receives an unwanted approach. No one has to accept or decline a visible request.

Step 6: The Connection

Once the Mutual Handshake is complete, you can message each other and coordinate a meeting. The actual connection — the conversation, the real human encounter — happens in person at the event. The app facilitates; the event is where it actually happens.

Step 7: After the Event

When the event ends, your Ephemeral Profile disappears. The connections you made remain — you can continue to interact with people you connected with via the app, even after the event. But your profile, your presence at that event, and any interactions that didn't lead to a mutual connection all disappear.
