Matchday

Four moments the match hands you

Everyone in the building has declared a shared interest at the door, and the match keeps supplying fresh reasons to speak. You only need to be present at four of them.

Before kick-off

The only window with room for a real conversation. Twenty minutes early, at the bar, before the groups have closed.

The near miss

The collective groan is the cheapest social opening in Britain. You do not have to say anything clever.

Half time

Fifteen minutes, volume down, everyone queuing. If you speak to one person all afternoon, speak to them here.

Full time

The danger point. Ninety minutes of shared feeling walks out of the door in the ninety seconds after the whistle.

Watch it together

The whistle goes. The crew does not have to.

Find the screening near you, drop into the VibeZone when you get there, and ask whoever you were shouting alongside whether they are in for the next one. Thirty-three more weekends is enough time to stop being a stranger.
